A true fantasy camp for rich kids, Betaville is where the nation's most elite send their sons and daughters for the summer. Because they are the offspring of important world leaders, these kids get special treatment, which includes being guarded by their own personal army. While the kids enjoy one more outrageous summer, there is trouble brewing in outer space. Planet Z is waging a war on Planet 38, with Planet Z's president XM developing a master plan which will put the earth in danger. The title refers to the night when three men, Randy (Matt Dillon), his cousin Carl (Paul Reiser) and Detective Dehling (John Goodman), all meet Jewel Valentine (Liv Tyler) at a bar called McCool's. Actually, they don't so much meet her as fall under her spell when they first lay eyes on her. In her clinging red dress she looks like a cross between a beautiful damsel in distress and the Lady In Red looking for John Dillinger. The story begins with Randy, desperate to be rid of Jewel, hiring a sleazy hitman, played by Michael Douglas in an outre toupee. His story of how Jewel lead him to ruin, filmed in a stylized flashback bathed in blue, is mirrored by Carl talking to his therapist--played with a delicious verve by Reba McEntire, and Detective Dehling talking with a priest; each telling their own stories of obsession with Jewel. Tyler is clearly beautiful, but it's the evil, scheming side of her character--delivered with voluptuous softness and irresistible badness--that makes the men's actions, however ridiculous they become, feel completely believable. Dillon, Goodman, and Reiser are all type cast in their familiar personas, but the story moves quickly, the dialogue doesn't have that forced sitcom feel, and a running gag involving a wooden Indian builds to an amusing pay-off.Additional Release Materials: Alternate Ending Make-up Test - 1. In this screwball comedy of manners, millionaire commodity brokers Randolph and Mortimer Duke (Don Ameche and Ralph Bellamy) wager a bet that pits environment vs. biology and turns the lives of their two unsuspecting victims upside down. Eddie Murphy costars as Billy Ray Valentine, a streetwise hustler who gets dragged off the street and into the proper life of top Duke Bros. broker Louis Winthorpe III (Dan Aykroyd), who in turn gets tossed out of his posh townhouse and onto the mean city streets. The comic team of Murphy and Aykroyd is deliriously funny as they both struggle to comprehend their new lives. Billy Ray is forced to learn proper etiquette, manners, and business sense while uptight Louis scrambles to make it on the streets, befriending a prostitute (Jamie Lee Curtis) who takes him in and saves him from starvation--or worse. When the two innocent victims realize the scheming brothers' plot, they unite and devise a fabulous revenge to prove that their lives can't be controlled by the power-grubbing Duke brothers. The film features outstanding work by Denholm Elliott as the butler and Curtis as the prostitute with a heart of gold. Jamie Kennedy co-wrote and stars in this surprisingly tender comedy about keeping it real, in more ways than one. Kennedy is Brad B-Rad Gluckman, an aspiring gangsta rapper who just so happens to be the son of wealthy California governor hopeful Bill Gluckman (Ryan O'Neal). Fearful that Brad's behavior is ruining Bill's campaign, campaign manager Tom (Blair Underwood) hires two actors to portray real-life gangsters and take B-Rad through an eye-opening tour of the actual'hood, scaring the black out of him. Sean (Taye Diggs) and P.J. (Anthony Anderson) are forced to recruit P.J.'s cousin, Shondra (Regina Hall), to help out with the scam, considering they're as ignorant of the ghetto as B-Rad himself. Soon, the game is underway. But when Shondra's ex-boyfriend (Damien Dante Wayans) becomes jealous of her seeming affection for B-Rad, he brings actual bullets into the mix. As the danger level rises, B-Rad begins to understand just how misunderstood he is. Yet he never buckles under the pressure, proving that if one stays true to oneself, anything is possible. Following the knee-slapping hit MEET THE PARENTS, director Jay Roach once again keeps audiences roaring with laughter as he presents MEET THE FOCKERS. This time, young engaged couple Pam (Teri Polo) and Greg (Ben Stiller) are getting their parents together a few months before the wedding. Greg nervously plans out every detail of the trip, only to be usurped by Pam`s domineering ex-CIA-man father (Robert DeNiro). Not only has he purchased an RV, insisting they`ll be driving from New York City to the Fockers` home in Miami, but he`s bringing along his perfect baby grandson. When they finally arrive at the Fockers` house, Greg`s parents, Bernie and Roz (Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand), turn out to be sex-addicted hippies and not at all what the Byrnes (DeNiro and Blythe Danner) had expected. With one pitfall after the next, the film takes the concept of awkward in-law experiences to new heights, leaving no stone unturned from stories about past sexual experiences to detailed discussion of current ones. What`s worse, the Fockers are teaching the baby curse words weaning him on rum, to the shock of his overprotective grandparents. Every conversation is totally inappropriate and downright embarrassing, keeping audiences braced for the next disaster. Along the way, all six cast members turn in topnotch performances, with Hoffman, Streisand, and Stiller leading the charge in true Focker spirit.
