Russell Crowe stars in this excitingly original and offbeat Australian crime thriller.
When a dispassionate newlywed, Midori (Youki Kudoh), leaves her Japanese businessman husband, Yukio (Kenji Isomura), she fakes her own kidnapping and inadvertently draws the attention of the international media and the police. But soon she is the victim of a real kidnapping when she witnesses a failed bank robbery and is taken hostage. When the gang attempts to execute her, their driver, Colin (Russell Crowe), betrays his tenuous allegiance and rescues Midori--and in the process kills one of the gang members. Soon Colin and Midori are on the run through the Australian outback, with the cops, the gang of Middle Eastern bank robbers, and Midori's jilted, homicidal husband all hot on their trail. With a playfully macabre mix of dark humor and underworld violence reminiscent of the films of the Coen brothers and Quentin Tarantino, HEAVEN'S BURNING is a classic crime drama filled with wry humor, local color, and an explosive climax--an absoulte must-see for all Russell Crowe fans.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseLetterboxed - 1.85Single Side - Dual LayerAudio: Dolby Digital Stereo - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Deleted Scenes Audio Commentary - 1.Craig Lahiff - Director Production Interview - 1.Cast

Imaginative theology and a bigger-than-usual budget make Kevin Smith's (CHASING AMY, CLERKS) fourth film a kind of post-Catholic fantasy that only a comic-book enthusiast of his caliber could dream up. It concerns banished angels, Loki (Matt Damon) and Bartleby (Ben Affleck) who, after a few millennia in Wisconsin, discover a loophole in Catholic doctrine that would allow them back into heaven--but prove the fallibility of God and destroy the universe. As they make their way to New Jersey to receive a plenary indulgence, God dispatches a seraphim (Alan Rickman) to recruit lapsed-Catholic Bethany (Linda Fiorentino) to stop the angels. She finds help in muses, prophets (Jay and Silent Bob), and the forgotten 13th apostle, Rufus (Chris Rock). Before long, all hell breaks loose (literally), and God (Alanis Morrisette) has to put in an appearance of her own. Smith's controversial (and very funny) film is powered by his trademark dialogue, ripe with observations on pop culture, religion, and bodily functions.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseAnamorphic Widescreen - 2.35Single Side - Single LayerAudio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Bonus Trailers -The Opposite of SexText/Photo Galleries: Biographies - Cast& CrewAdditional Products: Booklet

Beyond Therapy (DVD) Beyond Therapy (DVD) » Beyond Therapy (DVD)

Director Robert Altman ventures into Woody Allen territory with this comic romp about a group of neurotic adults living, dating, and undergoing therapy in New York City. After Prudence (Julie Hagerty) answers a personal ad placed by Bruce (Jeff Goldblum), the couple meet at a French restaurant to get acquainted, with disastrous results. Prudence doesn't respond well to the news that Bruce is a bisexual currently living with another man, Bob (Christopher Guest) and rushes back to her therapist--and ex-lover--Stuart (Tom Conti) to try to come to terms with this. Meanwhile, two doors down, Bruce is meeting with his therapist Charlotte (Glenda Jackson) who can't seem to pay attention long enough to do any serious counseling. When Bob's overprotective mother Ziai (Genevieve Page) tips off Bob, the romantic foibles spin even further out of control, climaxing at the same French restaurant where Bruce and Prudence first met. Altman, who co-wrote the screenplay with playwright Christopher Durang, author of the original stage play, edits the film at a frenetic pace which mimics the insanity of the characters themselves. The actors, playing bumbling, confused patients and therapists, all deliver strong comic performances, but it is Conti's absurd Stuart that triggers the loudest laughs.DVD Features:Region [unknown]Keep CaseLetterboxed Widescreen - 1.85Additional Release Material: Trailers - 1. In this final chapter of the AMERICAN PIE teen comedy trilogy, mishap magnet Jim (Jason Biggs) and former band geek Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) have decided to tie the knot. Jim's friends Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas) are on hand to help with preparations, but the trio soon gets an unwanted fourth wheel in the form of the eternally obnoxious Steve Stifmeister Stifler (Seann William Scott). Meanwhile, Michelle's lovely younger sister, Cadence (January Jones), arrives and quickly becomes the object of affection for both the scholarly Finch and the loudmouthed Stifler. Who will win the heart of Cadence? And how many things will go wrong before Jim and Michelle walk down the aisle? (Hint: A lot.)By once again balancing the lewd and the crude with the touching, AMERICAN WEDDING continues the charmingly funny yet gross streak of the first two films. Anchored by creator/screenwriter Adam Herz's obvious love for the characters, the film begins with a hilarious proposal scene and keeps the antics coming. As with past films, Biggs and Scott are the instigators of most outrageous acts, but the movie also gives ample screen time to comedy veterans Eugene Levy (once again playing Jim's always-understanding father) and Fred Willard (who portrays Michelle's overprotective dad). A fitting finale to the series, AMERICAN WEDDING doesn't involve pie, but that doesn't mean something can't happen to the cake....
