For this third series of adventures from THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN, creators Reece Shearsmith, Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, and Jeremy Dyson tried out an entirely different format from the two series' that preceded it. Killing off their most famous characters, Tubbs and Edward, at the end of series two may have been a brave move, but fans couldn't have been prepared for what came next. Dispensing with many of the characters that made the show famous, The League instead focus on one or two Royston Vasey residents per episode. Each tale reaches its climax with an incident that also occurs in all the other episodes, with only the final installment in the six-part show revealing the full picture. Amazingly, the change of formula works wonders for the show, providing some real edge-of-your-seat viewing. A bold, brave piece of television, THE LEAGUE OF GENTLEMEN once again proves to be a show full of gloomy delight.
