Wilton (Def - BAMBOOZLED) and A.J. The Martin Lawrence comedy BLACK KNIGHT, sharply directed by Gil Junger, borrows its theme from A CONNECTICUT YANKEE AT KING ARTHUR`S COURT, with Mark Twain`s Yankee being replaced by Jamal Walker (Lawrence). Jamal works at a decrepit California theme park in danger of being put out of business by a rival theme park. Cleaning Medieval World`s moat, he falls into the water, only to recover in Fourteenth Century England. There, Jamal meets Sir Knolte (Tom Wilkinson), a dissolute knight, before he stumbles into the court of the usurper King Leo (Kevin Conway). Jamal is impressed at what he thinks is the realism of the rival theme park; only after witnessing a gory beheading does he realize, with horror, where he really is. Jamal encounters the beautiful Victoria (Marsha Thomason) who is scheming to return the Queen (Helen Carey) to the throne, and falls fowl of the evil Sir Percival (Vincent Regan). Joining forces with Sir Knolte and Victoria, Jamal teaches the rebels some helpful football, golfing, and boxing moves, before he dons the armor of the awesome Black Knight. BLACK KNIGHT is full of Lawrence`s broad humor, and he and classically trained Wilkinson have great fun playing off each other.

Actor Steve Guttenberg makes his directorial debut in this witty black comedy based on the acclaimed novel and play by James Kirkwood (of A CHORUS LINE fame). It's New Year's Eve and out-of-work Los Angeles actor/writer Jimmy Zoole (Guttenberg) is having a very bad night. His girlfriend has just left him, his latest play has been canceled after only one performance, and he has just found out that his adored cat has died. On the brink of a breakdown, Jimmy discovers Eddie (Lombardo Boyar), a cat burglar, hiding under his bed and decides to take the law into his own hands. Eager to teach the burglar a lesson, Jimmy captures him and ties him to the kitchen counter in a desperate act of revenge. Drunk on power, Jimmy tortures and torments the gay Mexican burglar for the next 24 hours. But, Eddie fights back with clever words and the two bicker and spar over the course of an extremely claustrophobic evening. Trapped together in a twisted standoff, what initially begins as a game of cat-and-mouse becomes a strange bonding experience, as the two supposedly different men bond over their extreme situation and their shared struggles.
