Gwen (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and Eddie (John Cusack) are AMERICA'S SWEETHEARTS, two wildly popular celebrities who share their love on and off the screen in this farcical romantic comedy. But a messy breakup sends Eddie to a New Age Hollywood healing center and Gwen into the arms of her current affair, a Spanish bohunk short on charm (Hank Azaria). When their relationship troubles begin to threaten their superstar celebrity status and the release of their final film together the studio heads call in legendary press agent Lee Phillips (Billy Crystal) to helm the troubled film's press junket. Julia Roberts costars as Kiki, Gwen's personal assistant and sister who has always lived to please her demanding diva sister. Once overweight and severely self-conscious, Kiki's life revolves around her sister's ridiculous demands in this send up of ego-driven movie star vanity, penned cleverly with cynical insider wit by Crystal and Peter Tolan. DOWN PERISCOPE: Kelsey Grammar plays a wayward Navy officer, Tom Dodge, who is notorious throughout the Navy for having responded to a close call involving a Russian submarine by getting drunk and tattooing welcome aboard on an unmentionable appendage. He gets assigned by Admiral Winslow (Rip Torn) to command his own submarine; unfortunately, this sub is a rusting 1958 diesel model that the Navy wants to engage in war games to find out if it could inflict any damage. The assumption is, this sub is comparable to those the Russians are selling to renegade Iraqi and Libyan commanders, who might use them on suicide missions against the US.Once on board, we meet the cast of quirky characters who will man this clunker, including a hyper, mutinous Rob Schneider as second in command, Harland Williams as the copulating whale-impersonating radar operater Sonar, and Lauren Holly as the token female officer. The slapstick ensues as this group of underdogs attempt to pull off the impossible, the completion of which will determine Dodge's future career.OUT TO SEA: Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau are reunited in this hysterically funny high seas romantic adventure. In the small, idyllic enclave of Port Chester University, there is an even smaller community of people determined to hold out against the fervent political correctness that has taken over their academic establishment. Known as the Pit, it is the fraternity house that serves as party HQ for those holdouts, who hail, incidentally, from all walks of life; it is also the building to which Tom (Chris Young) has been assigned to stay during his pre-freshman stay at the campus. Jeremy Piven plays Droz, his guide, the head of the frat whose daily activities include throwing meat at a bunch of protesting vegans. But things turn serious (kind of) when the school president hands the frat a bill for $7000 in damages, and the group decides to do the only thing it can: throw a party! Campus peace hangs in the balance as this one night will decide if everyone can put aside their differences and just have a good time.
