Phillip Roth's biting satire of middle-class Jewish life is brought to the screen in Larry Peerce's poignant dramedy. Jewel thief Franky Four Fingers (Benicio Del Toro) is in London en route to New York, where he will deliver an 86-karat diamond to his boss, Avi (Dennis Farina). Veronica Sawyer (Winona Ryder) has sacrificed everything in order to preserve her place in Westerburg High's most impenetrable social clique, the HEATHERS. As the only member of the group not named Heather, Veronica has to work extra hard just to stay afloat.
